The first marker to honor women of the suffrage movement was dedicated on March 6, 2019 at The Woman’s Club of Louisville in Louisville, KY to commemorate the work of Susan Look Avery. She held the 1881 American Woman Suffrage Association’s national meeting in her home with speaker Lucy Stone and Henry Blackwell. She was a friend to Susan B. Anthony, Jane Addams, Booker T. Washington and other reformers.
